Change is in the Wind


Hundreds of pots of soup.  Umpteen batches of Red River bread and countless rounds of Golden Flax Bannock.  Thousands of special moments with customers, producers, musicians and artists who’ve helped grow the New Ground CafĂ© over the past six and a half years.

Now it’s time for another chapter. At the end of March, I’m selling my building and rolling out a new venture called Chef Jenni later this spring. But meanwhile, back at the restaurant, there’s still plenty happening.
Meatless Mondays: 11:30 to 1:30 p.m featuring our "tastes like more" Lentil Bake, salads, soup and dessert

Come for Coffee Wednesdays: 2 to 4 p.m. with fair trade coffee, Red River Cinnamon buns and Date Oatmeal cookies

Friday Favourites: 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. reservations recommended…this end of the week affair gets crowded. Enjoy customer's picks from the New Ground repertoire, some to be featured in my upcoming book!

Saturday Brunch on March 3 and March 10th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

3 Course Themed Dinners: Friday March 2, Thursday March 8 and Wednesday, March 14.  Reservations required, $20 per person.

Saturday, March 10th music by Cathleen Lesperance from her new album Brilliant Bright. A three course menu reflects that title, with foods in shades of pale but bursting with flavour. Tickets $40 phone or e-mail to reserve.

Saturday, March 17th: An Irish Saskatchewan feast!!! 3 courses melding the flavours of the prairies with the Green Isle. $20 per person, starts at 6 p.m.


Friday, March 23 music by Karrnnel Sawitsky on fiddle with guitarist Ray Bell and Daniel Koulack playing bass and banjo. Toes will be tapping and our Mediterranean themed meal will wake up winter weary taste buds. $40 each.

Tuesday, March 27 is our last day official day open. Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by dessert and coffee until 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. we'll have a yoga class right in the restaurant with a meal for participants afterward. Proceeds of the class and meal to Yoga for Youth. Come and help us go out like a lion!!!

Saturday, March 31 will be your chance to take home a piece of the New Ground Cafe'. Stop in from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. forcoffee, cinnamon buns and a garage sale. Even the purple couch is up for grabs.

Sunday, April 22: "Rinnovo" means "renewal" in Italian and is the name of Chef Jenni's inaugural event at historic Keyhole Castle in Prince Albert. A four course Piedmontese style meal in the ballroom with music by singer/songwriter/piano player Jeffery Straker.
